Water Quality Data May 2019 (EC-pH-Fecal)

Following are the results of pH, Electrical Conductivity and Fecal Coliform obtained for the water supplied by Male’ Water and Sewerage Company Private Limited within Male’, Hulhumale’ and Villimale’ from 1st May 2019 to 31st May 2019.

pH value is a good indicator of whether water is hard or soft and the corrosivity of water. A total of 258 samples were taken inclusive of Male’, Hulhumale and Villimale’. 93.8% of the samples tested were within the recommended range set by EPA.

Electrical conductivity (EC) is a good indicator of the total salinity. A total of 259 samples were taken inclusive of Male’, Hulhumale and Villimale’. 100% of the samples tested were within the recommended range set by EPA.

Fecal Coliform is a good indicator the presence of fecal pollution in water. A total of 217 samples were taken inclusive of Male’, Hulhumale and Villimale’. 100% of the samples tested were within the recommended range set by EPA.

The GLOBE Initiative’s Learning Expedition to the Sea Event – October 2023

The GLOBE Initiative’s Learning Expedition to the Sea Event was conducted in partnership with EPA and GLOBE initiative’s Asia Pasific Office in Maldives this October. The event was held from 1st of October to 3rd of October 2023 in Male’, Hulhumale and Villingili island. 30 participants from 6 Asia Pacific Countries joined the event. The participants included students, teachers and Country Coordinators from Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Mongolia, Vietnam and India.

EPA Governing Board Appointed

7 October 2020

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed the governing board of EPA on 4th October. Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan met with the newly appointed Governing Board members on 7th October 2020 and welcomed them and congratulated them on their appointment.

Consultations on B.Olhugiri Management Plan

EPA, the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEE), Biosphere reserve office, and biosphere reserve trust fund carried out stakeholder consultations on Olhugiri from 2nd to 4th October 2017 in Baa Atoll. The consultations were carried out to present the environment management plan prepared for Olhugiri to the stakeholders and to obtain remarks and comments on the management plan.
