International Coastal Cleanup Day 2017
The International Coastal Cleanup Day, an international volunteer effort to keep our oceans and waterways clean, was celebrated with events throughout the nation this week.
The main event in Hulhumalé today collected 399 bags of waste along a 3.5 km stretch of coastline. The total amount collected included 179 bags with plastics, 28 with metal and aluminium, 28 glass and 180 bags of general waste.

World Oceans Day Celebration
As part of the World Oceans Day activities this year, EPA in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change Environment and Energy conducted a cleanup event at K.Thanburudhoo Protected Area on 08th June 2024The GLOBE Initiative’s Learning Expedition to the Sea Event – October 2023
The GLOBE Initiative’s Learning Expedition to the Sea Event was conducted in partnership with EPA and GLOBE initiative’s Asia Pasific Office in Maldives this October. The event was held from 1st of October to 3rd of October 2023 in Male’, Hulhumale and Villingili island. 30 participants from 6 Asia Pacific Countries joined the event. The participants included students, teachers and Country Coordinators from Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Mongolia, Vietnam and India.EPA Governing Board Appointed
